Hospice philosophy

Hospice is not “giving up.”

Hospice philosophy accepts death as a transition of life by honoring life and shifting the focus from curative to quality of life, as we do not hasten or postpone one's transition. Hospice care focuses on managing a patient's symptoms while caring for and educating a patient's family, rather than focusing on the disease itself.

The New Life Hospice multidisciplinary approach strives to provide a family-centered, patient-focused experience by providing dignity, quality, and compassionate care. Duly important is honoring and respecting our patient and family wishes concerning the physical as well as the spiritual aspect of the patient. New Life Hospice wishes to give you “the precious gift of time.”

New Life Hospice butterfly

The Butterfly

The butterfly is symbolic of new life as it transitions from a cocoon into a butterfly. The wings of the butterfly are a lotus flower, a symbol for purity. It emerges from murky waters perfectly clean and beautiful. It holds power because it covers hope and strength to people struggling in their daily lives. In Christianity, it is seen as the inner strength and the determination to come out of any difficulties, symbolic of purifying our imperfections and impurities.
